I also had this picture on my wall growing up. Everyone always rooted for Magoo! He was motocross in the 80s.

This photo is the first rider I ever hung on my wall. DMC is still the only rider to win all 4 moto’s in a single Moto Des Nations (250cc and 500cc 2 strokes). In my opinion the God Father of freestyle. Prior to Magoo the repitoire of extreeme was a simple cross up. RIP Magoo.

I saw Danny at the Dallas Supercross one year and got his autograph before the race began. Danny was by the wall next to Ward, O’ Mara, Bailey and even Hannah, all great riders and champions, but he had more kids waiting for him to sign their program than all those guys. I think that says a great deal. I was with four of my racing friends and every one of us was rooting for Magoo. We didn’t really know how to describe why we liked Danny other than he was just, “cool.” Years later I watched Lackey’s video and was able to understand it a bit more. Danny was passion on a bike. We all raced the next day and I remember needing to push to catch a trophy and I yelled at myself in my helmet, “Get Magoo on ‘em!” But no one could ever duplicate him.

Awesome picture. One handed pancake…still looks good by today’s standards; truly amazing back in the ’80s.

I love seeing clips of Magoo racing…a true wildman!
