I saw Danny at the Dallas Supercross one year and got his autograph before the race began. Danny was by the wall next to Ward, O’ Mara, Bailey and even Hannah, all great riders and champions, but he had more kids waiting for him to sign their program than all those guys. I think that says a great deal. I was with four of my racing friends and every one of us was rooting for Magoo. We didn’t really know how to describe why we liked Danny other than he was just, “cool.” Years later I watched Lackey’s video and was able to understand it a bit more. Danny was passion on a bike. We all raced the next day and I remember needing to push to catch a trophy and I yelled at myself in my helmet, “Get Magoo on ‘em!” But no one could ever duplicate him.
Classic! This photo hung on my wall for years. Nobody could pancake it like Magoo back in the day!
True great whip, think this photo is from Pasadena 83,I belive he has O’shows gators on.
One of the best and most famous pics of Magoo, classic..
Anyone that has ever raced motocross, or supercross knows what it takes to get pancaked after 15 or 20 laps ! MAGOO!! enough said !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great pic, the photographer was a french man: Patrick Boulland (RIP Pat) http://www.jeanmichelbayle.fr/1989/IMAGES/SX%20US/JMB%20RDC%20PAT.jpg
Awesome picture. One handed pancake…still looks good by today’s standards; truly amazing back in the ’80s.
I love seeing clips of Magoo racing…a true wildman!
I had this on my wall for years as well. Somebody should make a poster of this and put the money toward the new van!
