Hay man, today was the first time I learned of your crash. Really sorry that it happend, and to you of all people.
I followed your racing in the 70s- early 80′s, superbiking and moto-x. I loved how you won on the 125cc in the 500 De-nations race. I use that example when discussing racing whether its road or dirt with friends. Its not what you have its how you use it that counts. I am about the same age and raced Moto-X(scrambles) in New Zealand (down near Australia). My best effort, as a 17 year old racing in an all-in 130 riders Baja type race held through two connecting farms(ranch). The best of New Zealands best were competing that day. I won it on a CR 125. “Say what “, it was then like your self,I learned from that day to “race it like its hot”. None of this ride only as fast as you need to win bullshit. Because the start of the end. Speed, thrills and developing skills to go faster and faster. Slow guys dont get it, that it takes more energy to ride mid pack than it does up-front where you a clear track and more optins.
Three years back I was riding my road bike and was hit by a car running a red light. I received head injuries which disrupted my mobility, but what I can’t gauge is the brain damage that I have been told I have, its a comfortable place to be because I can’t comprehend what is that is differant about me. My wife is not happy, “I didnt sign-up for this postion”.
